About Pleasant Grove, UT
History & Roots
Pleasant Grove is one of Utah County’s oldest communities and one of the earliest permanent settlements in the state. Mormon pioneers arrived in the area in 1849, drawn by the abundant natural springs and fertile soil at the foot of Mount Timpanogos. The community was originally called Battle Creek — named after a skirmish between Mormon settlers and a band of Ute warriors near the creek in 1849. The name was changed to Pleasant Grove in 1852 to better reflect the community’s character. Pleasant Grove was incorporated in 1855 and has maintained a strong sense of community identity and heritage ever since.
Landmarks, Attractions & Things to Do
Pleasant Grove is situated directly beneath Mount Timpanogos — one of Utah’s most iconic peaks and the namesake of Timpanogos Cave National Monument. Battle Creek Canyon, rising steeply from the city’s eastern edge, provides popular hiking access to the Wasatch foothills. The historic downtown Pleasant Grove features the city’s original commercial district, restored historic buildings, and the Veterans Memorial Park. Kiwanis Park and several other community parks provide recreation throughout the city. Utah Lake is visible from much of Pleasant Grove, and the Silicon Slopes tech corridor is minutes away.
Community Events
Pleasant Grove is famous for Cherry Days — one of the oldest community festivals in Utah, celebrating the city’s heritage as a cherry-growing region each July 4th with a parade, entertainment, carnival, and fireworks. The Cherry Days celebration has been held continuously for over 100 years. The city also hosts an annual summer concert series, youth sports leagues, and community events through Pleasant Grove City Parks and Recreation.
Growth & Concrete Demand
Pleasant Grove continues to grow as Silicon Slopes tech employment draws families to northern Utah County. The combination of new residential development and a strong culture of homeownership in established neighborhoods creates steady demand for quality concrete work throughout Pleasant Grove.
Frequently Asked Questions — Concrete in Pleasant Grove, UT
How much does a concrete patio cost in Pleasant Grove, UT?
Concrete patio pricing in Pleasant Grove depends on size, thickness, finish type, and whether demolition of an existing surface is needed. Most residential patios run between $8 and $15 per square foot installed. Stamped or decorative finishes will run higher. Contact us for a free on-site estimate with clear pricing specific to your project.
Do I need a permit for concrete work in Pleasant Grove?
Pleasant Grove permit requirements for concrete work depend on project type and location. We'll help identify what's needed during the estimate process.
How long does concrete take to cure in Utah weather?
Most concrete allows foot traffic in 24–48 hours, but full strength develops over 28 days. In Pleasant Grove’s climate, hot summers can speed up surface drying while cold winters require additional protection and planning. We’ll give you specific guidance based on your project and current conditions.
Can you pour concrete in winter in Pleasant Grove?
Sometimes, with the right planning and cold-weather protection. If conditions aren’t right for long-term durability, we’ll recommend a better window rather than rush a pour that won’t hold up through Utah’s winters.
Do you build backyard basketball and pickleball courts in Pleasant Grove?
Yes — and we build a lot of them. We construct residential and commercial sports courts throughout Pleasant Grove with proper grading, base prep, and a flat, consistent surface designed for long-term play. We can also coordinate with sport surfacing contractors for color coating and line striping.
